1. Install Pattlist and create your account
Pattlist is a free grocery shopping list app for Android. Download it from Google Play, open it, and sign up in one of three ways:
- Google or Sign in with Apple, using an account you already have.
- Your Email and a Password. Pattlist then emails you a verification code to enter on the Verify your email screen.
2. Create your first list
Your lists live in the lists menu. When you have none yet, Pattlist tells you to open it.
- Tap the menu button at the top left to open the lists menu.
- Tap Add New List.
- Give it a name, such as “Weekly groceries”, and tap Create (or press Enter).
The new list opens straight away, and its name appears at the top of the screen.
3. Add items
Type an item into Add a new item at the top of the list and tap Add, or press Enter. The box clears so you can type the next one.
Pattlist won’t add the same item twice while it’s still waiting to be bought: “Milk”, “milk” and “ milk ” count as the same item. Once you’ve bought it, you can add it again.
4. Tick items off as you shop
Tap the circle next to an item to tick it off. It moves below the items you still need to buy, so the top of the list is always what’s left. Tap it again to untick it.
Ticked items stay visible for a day, then drop off the list. Every tick also teaches Pattlist what you buy and how often, which is what its smart suggestions are built on.
5. Delete an item
Tap the bin icon next to an item, then confirm. If you share the list, the item is removed for everyone on it.
6. Switch between lists
Open the lists menu and tap a list to open it. Your own lists are under MY LISTS, lists other people shared with you are under SHARED LISTS, and invitations waiting for you are under PENDING INVITES.
Pattlist remembers which list you had open, even after you close the app. Each phone remembers its own choice, so your partner’s phone can stay on a different list.
What to try next
- Share your list with the people you shop with.
- Label items with markers and store logos.
- Change the look in Settings.
