Terms of Service

Last updated October 23, 2026

1. About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Faisal Karim, a sole trader in Victoria, Australia, trading as Pattlist (‘we’, ‘us’, ‘our’). They cover the Pattlist app, this website, and the Pattlist Public API (together, the ‘Services’).

By creating an account or using the Services, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Services.

2. Your account

You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live, to use Pattlist. You sign in with Google, Apple, GitHub or email, and you're responsible for keeping that sign-in secure and for what happens in your account.

Please give us accurate details and keep your email address up to date, as we use it for list invitations and account matters.

3. Using Pattlist

Pattlist lets you keep shopping lists, share them with other people, and get suggestions for items you're likely to need, based on your purchase history.

Recommendations are suggestions only. They're generated automatically from patterns in what you buy and may be wrong or incomplete, so please check your list before you shop. We aren't responsible for anything you forget, buy or don't buy because of a suggestion.

When you share a list, everyone on it can see and change its items. The list owner decides who has access and can remove people at any time. Only invite people you trust with what's on the list.

4. Plans, billing and cancellation

Pattlist has a free plan and a paid plan, Pattlist Plus. The current features, limits and price of each plan are shown in the app and on our pricing page. Plus benefits apply to the lists you own, for everyone on those lists.

Plus is bought and billed through Google Play. It's a subscription that renews automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel it. You can cancel at any time in Google Play under Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. Plus then stays active until the end of the period you've paid for. Deleting your Pattlist account does not cancel your subscription.

If a renewal payment fails, Plus stays active while Google Play retries the payment, for the grace period Google Play allows. If the payment still doesn't go through, your account returns to the free plan.

Refunds are handled by Google Play under its refund policies. If a payment is refunded or charged back, Plus ends straight away. When Plus ends, your lists and data are kept, but the free plan's limits apply again: for example, you can't create new lists or invite more people beyond them.

If we change the price of Plus, we'll tell you in advance, and the new price applies from your next billing period after the notice. You can cancel before then.

5. The Public API

Plus subscribers can create API keys in the app to read and update their lists through the Pattlist Public API. Keep your keys secret: anyone with a key can read and change whatever its permissions allow. You can revoke a key in the app at any time.

Please keep to fair use (no more than 60 requests per minute per key) and don't use the API to get at data you don't have access to in the app. API keys stop working if your Plus subscription ends, and we may revoke a key that is misused or puts the Services at risk.

6. Your content

The lists, items, notes and photos you add are yours. You give us permission to store, sync and display them so the Services work: showing them to the people on your shared lists, and using your purchase history to make recommendations for you. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies other list members keep on shared lists, as described on our account deletion page.

Don't add anything to Pattlist that is unlawful, that you don't have the right to share, or that harasses or harms other people.

7. Acceptable use

When using the Services, you agree not to:

  • break the law, or use Pattlist to send spam or unwanted invitations;
  • try to get into another person's account or lists without their permission;
  • interfere with, overload or probe the Services, or get around their limits or security;
  • copy, resell or reverse engineer the Services, except where the law allows it.

8. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect and how we use and protect it.

9. Ending your use of Pattlist

You can stop using Pattlist at any time, and delete your account in the app or by emailing us.

We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or where we have to by law. Where it's reasonable, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem.

10. Changes to Pattlist and these terms

We keep improving Pattlist, so features may change, and we may update these terms. If a change to these terms materially affects you, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using the Services after that, the new terms apply.

11. Your consumer rights and our liability

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or changes any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other laws that can't be excluded, including the consumer guarantees.

Apart from those rights, the Services are provided ‘as is’. We work to keep Pattlist available and your data safe, but we can't promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. To the extent the law allows, where our liability for a failure to meet a consumer guarantee can be limited, it is limited to supplying the Services again or paying the cost of having them supplied again, and we aren't liable for indirect or consequential loss.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts. If you live elsewhere, you may also have rights under the laws of where you live.
