Add notes and photos to items on your shopping list

Add a note or up to five photos to any item on your Pattlist shopping list, so whoever does the shop gets exactly the right brand and size.

Open an item’s details

Tap an item’s name to open its details. That’s where its Notes and Photos are. Items with a note or photos show a small icon on the list, so you know there’s more to see.

Add a note

Type into Add notes for this item…: the brand, the size, “the one with the blue lid”, or “only if it’s on special”. The note is saved as you go and stays after you close the sheet or restart the app.

  • Notes can be up to 4,000 characters. Pattlist stops you at the limit and tells you why.
  • To remove a note, clear it. A note that’s only spaces is removed too.
  • If two people edit the same note on different phones, the later one is kept. If the item was deleted meanwhile, the note goes with it.

Add a photo

  1. In the item’s details, tap Add photo.
  2. Choose Take photo to use the camera, or Photo library to pick an existing one.

A photo of the exact product saves a lot of “which one did you mean?” messages. Tap a photo to preview it.

  • Each item can have up to 5 photos. Adding is disabled once it has 5.
  • Pattlist resizes photos before uploading them. A photo that’s still over 5 MB afterwards, or an image type it doesn’t support, is refused with a message saying why.

Remove a photo

Preview the photo and remove it, then confirm. It’s removed from the item for everyone on the list, and from their phones too.

Shared lists and offline

Notes and photos sync to everyone on the list and to your other devices. Both work offline: a note or photo you add without signal shows straight away on your phone and uploads once you’re back online. If an upload is interrupted halfway, Pattlist finishes it when the connection returns.
